helloooo
So we went to an unrestored bit of the wall on Sunday, Erica's host mum's brother drove us there. It was about a 4 hour hike from the village to the wall, it was like sheet ice on the paths so tricky walking. Our guide was a 14 year old girl from the village, she spoke very fast Chinese so it was hard to talk to her, but we tried our best! Really stunning views from the top (see pics). when we got back to the village we were invited to eat there, the girl's family always cook for the visitors when they come back down the mountain. We had a whole chicken (i mean whole - feet and everything!), some omlette thing, soup, veg, really nice hot bread and some pancake things made out of corn - they grow huge amounts of corn by the village. it was a really yummy meal!
Haven't done much else this week, mainly been working...Found a language partner though the other day, there are 2 girls who want to improve their English so me and Erica are meeting with them a few times a week to do some conversation practice etc. Everyone has like 3 different language partners each here it's crazy!
Went bowling again today with some friends - and some random people I didn't know, but it's all good :)
yeah i think that's all...
their what?
ReplyDeleteimprove their hairstyle?
ReplyDeletehang-gliding technique?
where is the picture?
I thought you said they weren't dodgy - improve their what?!
ReplyDeletesorry...i had to go urgently so i just thought i would finish it later, then forgot.
ReplyDeleteTypical! :P
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures again Nats. Are there plans afoot to rebuild that bit? Food sounds good. We went through the Chinese quarter yesterday in London (just there for the day) but didn't stop to eat there (guess why!). Went Italian instead - limited choice for one of us, but v. good. Back again later in the month to meet up with Dom and, hopefully, Dan. Skype will be up and running by Friday. Are you impressed?
ReplyDeleteYour followers seem to have disappeared. Was it something you said?!
ReplyDeleteSorry - they've come back. Maybe it's my computer again!
ReplyDeleteyeah i am very impressed, will add you on skype, mum gave me your username.
ReplyDeletedon't know if there are any plans with the wall, as our guide didn't speak english, we found it hard enough to ask her anything, let alone complicated things like that!!
mum it's your computer...get a new one it's rubbish :P
Dear Nats,We are sitting on sofa with the laptop trying sort out without our mouse but it is not easy. It seems so easy when you do it. We need much practice. We have not sorted the name Royston and we still be anonymous. All our files have been transferred to the laptop. We are all ready for a message via skype. Love from Gramps
ReplyDeleteFollowing your pictures avidly. Have just posted some of them to France because - although Alexis and Bryony have your address no one has shown them how to find it yet. (Alexis will be 14 on March 17th). You may not be aware of it but your Chinese adventure has an unexpected advantage for the elderly. If conversation is flagging and I'm getting bored I just say casually "My granddaughter is in Beijing, by the way". It makes everyone sit up! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Nats. How's it going? You must be getting near the end of your course now. Have you plans until M, D and D arrive? Bet you are looking forward to showing them around. We hope to meet up with Dan next weekend in London and also with Dom. Looking forward to seeing all your pictures when you return. Do you want the usual for Easter or something not chocolate?!!
ReplyDeleteyes the course finishes this week...i need to organise some stuff to do when mum and dad and dan get here! say hi to dom for me then :)
ReplyDeletewell the usual is always welcome, but it is nicer to have something that doesn't get eaten straight away!
